Modern Foreign Language

At South Stanley Junior School, we aim to give children the experience of learning a modern foreign
language and to learn about another country.

Our chosen language is French.

We aim to develop their skills in the five key areas that
are necessary for learning a language
• Speaking
• Listening
• Reading
• Writing
• Grammar, phonics and vocabulary

We hope that this would give them a level of French that they would be able to use should they get
the opportunity to travel or to meet people from France. We also hope this inspires the children to
want to see and learn more about the world and its diversity.
